In what way can a novel be seen? To what extent can the reading of a narrative text be superimposed on the cinematic experience? The essays collected here try, first and foremost, to answer these questions. The focus of the question, predictably, is the narrator-audience relationship: in cinema this is presented with characteristics very different from those of the written narrative. Especially so since the dream of a narrator-less novel preceded, even prefigured, the birth of the film. In a narrative universe that does everything to put in parentheses the author's and enunciative demands, the responsibility of the recipients grows.
