Translator-writers and European literary culture: comparative approaches to canon, practices and interferences

The aim of this research project was to study some works translated by some of the major writers of European literary culture (restricting the investigation to literature in Italian, French, English and Spanish in the period between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries), analyzing the role of these translations in the formation of a common European literary canon.

An interdisciplinary investigation was therefore carried out, which sought to make evident the existence of a European community of writers who, through the use of translation, led to shared tones, structures, symbols and images.

the practice of translation understood as an essential moment in the creative activity of some of the major European writers was analysed, to highlight how the encounter with otherness led to the genesis of this European canon
