Books invade Milan: BookCity 2024 arrives

Culture - 24 October 2024 - Event date 11 November 2024

Once again this year, our Athenaeum is hosting a series of events

From November 11 to 17 , the new edition of BookCity Milano will take place: meetings with authors, writers, round tables, presentations, and debates whose absolute protagonists are books. As every year, the program is vast and varied, but we would like to point out two central themes that reflect current events and run through the Milan event. The first, in the age of wars and conflicts, is the theme of peace and coexistence; the second concerns Artificial Intelligence and its implications.

Once again this year our Athenaeum will be the scene of a series of events involving some of our faculty. There are two highlights, both on Thursday, Nov. 14: the meeting with Spanish writer Clara Usón, and the presentation of the re-edition of the volume by Salvatore Silvano Nigro, a former IULM professor, Il principe fulvo, dedicated to Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, which will be an opportunity to retrace the relationship between the Palermo writer and cinema. Also of special interest is the meeting with two important translators, Enrico Terrinoni and Gabriele Frasca who, starting with two recent books, will talk about Svevo, Joyce and Beckett.

Two meetings, which will be held outside IULM, are co-organized by our University: the presentation of the latest volume by Massimo De Giuseppe, IULM professor, part of the new series "Americhe" by the publisher Il Mulino, and the presentation of another new series that bears the title "Teatro classico in scena" (publisher Carocci), a meeting that will be coordinated by our Martina Treu.
