Judith Clark, curator of the exhibition “Dalí and Fashion” at Palazzo Reale

Judith Clark’s presence at IULM will give students the opportunity to learn from a professional who has helped establish fashion curation as a discipline and a form of exhibition practice. Her teaching will explore the history of art from the twentieth century to the present, with particular attention to the relationship between art and fashion, curatorial practice and fashion museology.

A professor of Fashion and Museology at London College of Fashion – University of the Arts London and co-founder of the Centre for Fashion Curation, Judith Clark is one of the leading voices in fashion curation and museology. She curated the Elio Fiorucci exhibition at Triennale Milano in 2024 and an exhibition marking Loro Piana’s centenary at the Museum of Art Pudong in Shanghai in 2025. She recently published Pre-figured: Fashion and Exhibition-making, a book reflecting on her thirty years of work in curation and exhibition design.

Her approach treats the fashion exhibition as a language in its own right, using garments to explore the relationship between the body, memory and exhibition space. This vision is also reflected in Dalí and Fashion, curated with Laura Bartolomé under the scientific direction of Montse Aguer, Director of the Dalí Museums. Bringing together more than 200 works and documents, the exhibition explores Salvador Dalí’s influence on fashion and the role fashion played in shaping his creative universe.
