IULM partners with UnArchive Found Footage Fest 2026

Cinema - 25 May 2026

Masterclass with Cécile Fontaine and free accreditation for students

From May 26-31, 2026, Rome will host the fourth edition of UnArchive Found Footage Fest, the international festival organized by the Audiovisual Archive of the Workers' and Democratic Movement ETS dedicated to the creative reuse of archival images, with a rich program of films, performances, installations, meetings and master classes.

This year IULM is again the festival's training partner, confirming its commitment to audiovisual training and experimentation.

Among the most anticipated events is the masterclass by director Cécile Fontaine, a pioneer of reuse cinema, organized precisely in collaboration with our Athenaeum. The French artist, active since the 1980s, is known for her use of recycled film and for her physical and chemical manipulation techniques that deconstruct the image. The masterclass, titled "Histoires naturelles de la destruction," will be held on May 28 at 4:30 p.m. at Cinema Intrastevere.

This year's festival features more than 120 found footage works, including feature films, short films and experimental projects, as well as panels, professional forums and international networking moments.

An opportunity for IULM students

As educational partners, IULM students are entitled to free accreditation for the entire festival, a unique opportunity to get in touch with authors, professionals and innovative languages of the contemporary audiovisual scene.

The activities will take place in a diffuse mode in different venues in the Trastevere district, from Cinema Intrastevere, to Live Alcazar, the Casa Internazionale delle Donne, the Botanical Garden of Rome, the Zalib bookstore, the Church of Santa Dorotea and the Casa Borelli studio.
