Two universities and a music foundation together for an intermedial and international project: a multi-ethnic journey through arts and cultures, a journey that tells the story of the Mediterranean as a cradle and crossroads of peoples and civilisations.

The project was born from the virtuous collaboration between the University of Naples L'Orientale, promoter of the project, the World Youth Orchestra Foundation and the IULM University, thanks to the important support of the Culture and Art Foundation - institution of the Fondazione Terzo Pilastro - Internazionale, chaired by Prof. Emmanuele F. M. Emanuele - which works to promote cultural and artistic initiatives in the name of solidarity.

The initiative includes workshops and seminars run by the three institutions in order to produce a performance inspired by The Thousand and One Nights: The Two Moons. The show will be run in Dubai on 17th and 18th Novembre 2021

The three institutions are collaborating on the project, each according to its own identity: students from the Orientale University in Naples, under the supervision of Professor Roberta Denaro, will elaborate a translation and produce a study of the play's dramaturgy; the World Youth Orchestra Foundation, thanks to Maestro Damiano Giuranna, will create the music and stage the play; and IULM University, thanks to the collaboration of Professor Valentina Garavaglia and the director and lecturer Giuseppe Carrieri, will create the play's visuals and a documentary on the project.

On November 17, in the Auditorium of the Italian Pavilion in Dubai a it will take place a listening workshop about the poetic texts and music of the show. On November 18, at 8.30 pm (5.30 pm Italian time) at the Millennium Amphitheatre, the show Le due lune will be staged. The event will be streamed.

Click here to follow the event live on November 17 (2 p.m. italian time).

Expo Dubai 2020 will be held in the United Arab Emirates from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022.

In addition, our University will also be among the protagonists of the week dedicated to education, which will take place from 12 to 18 December 2021, with numerous events to be held at the Italian Pavilion:

  • Artistic Beauty, Territorial Excellence and Identity Communication: a reflection on communication and promotion processes - Prof.Vincenzo Russo
An experience project on Italian Beauty, through the creation of a post for the analysis of the effect of beauty in the minds of visitors with emotional measurement of reactions to the sight of Italian excellence.
  • "Humanism and Artificial Intelligence New ways of thinking, learning, and leading change for society and education" - Prof. Guido Di Fraia; Prof. Riccardo Manzotti.
The international conference will focus on the contribution that technological innovation, connected with the development of artificial intelligence, will bring to the production and transmission of knowledge. More specifically, the conference will be divided into two parallel and complementary sessions, offering two opposing perspectives (elements of risk vs. opportunity) relating respectively to the dynamics through which, in advanced societies, algorithmic systems now interpose themselves between individuals and the various sources of knowledge, and the opportunities offered by AI-based technologies for a more effective and inclusive education capable of supporting individuals with different forms of disability.
