IULM launches Digital Sustainability Hub: a center for digital sustainability
A project coordinated by Prof. Andrea Carignani confirming the University's focus on innovation, research and digital design
IULM University announces the establishment of the Digital Sustainability Hub (DSH), a new center dedicated to the promotion of digital sustainability, understood not only as technological efficiency, but as cultural, social and environmental transformation across infrastructure, governance, design and everyday practices.
The project is conceived and coordinated by Prof. Andrea Carignani, the Rector's proxy to digitization, and is part of the University's strategy to integrate innovation, research and digital culture.
"True sustainability requires a broader look: at how digital systems are designed, governed and used in everyday life," explains Prof. Carignani.
A new hub for sustainable research and education
The DSH aims to be a space for interdisciplinary research, training and collaboration with companies and institutions, with the goal of accompanying the transition to more conscious and responsible models of innovation.
Activities are developed along three lines:
- Understanding - study of the environmental, economic and social impacts of digital;
- Awareness - awareness and training paths for students, professionals and citizens;
- Action - projects and partnerships to foster the adoption of sustainable digital practices
The center is inspired by the principles of the Sustainable Web Manifesto, promoting an integrated approach that combines digital ecology, data ethics and social responsibility.
IULM, an innovation-oriented university
IULM's commitment to digitization is already present in its courses of study, such as Languages, Culture and Digital Communication and Communication, Media and Advertising, which combine humanities and technology skills.
The Athenaeum also participates in events such as Milan Digital Week, promoting talks and workshops on artificial intelligence and the digital transformations of contemporary society.
A hub between university, business and society
With the Digital Sustainability Hub, IULM aims to be a national reference point for digital sustainability, fostering dialogue between academia, institutions and businesses and promoting sustainable innovation projects.
