Roberto Vecchioni
The inauguration of the 50th Academic Year of IULM was the occasion to confer the Diploma ad Honorem of the Master in Storytelling Arts to Professor Roberto Vecchioni for "having recounted half a century of Italian life and being able to reconcile the popular sounds of the song with the remote oral origins of poetry. Despite his extraordinary professional success, for thirty years, he has never abandoned his teaching post at Liceo Beccaria in Milan, nourishing our hope that studying, teaching, narrating and singing can be one". After singing L'Infinito, a song taken from his latest album of the same name and inspired by the famous poem by Giacomo Leopardi, the singer-songwriter gave a prolusion on the themes of culture as a dialogue and as a rediscovery of our roots.
