Current Position
Associate Professor at the Faculty of Arts, Fashion and Tourism at IULM University, she integrates social research with design, with a focus on participatory and systemic processes. She is a member of the Department of Humanities and is in the scientific committee of the Culture and Science of Sustainability Research Center (CRCS). Previously, she was a researcher at the Department of Design of the Politecnico di Milano and taught at the School of Design of the same university. She has been a visiting professor at Italian and international institutions, including Xi'an Jiaotong University (China). She has participated in and coordinated numerous interdisciplinary, international projects, involving public institutions and private sectors in co-designing innovative solutions, ranging from renewable energy communities and healthcare innovation to cultural infrastructure and walkability for aging populations. As a prolific author and speaker, she has contributed to both academic and applied discourse through books, journal articles, international conferences, and curated public events, frequently focusing on the role of design in shaping more inclusive, sustainable, and culturally rich futures. She recently edited the book "Gender Perspectives for a Renewed Design Culture. Unveiling Dynamics in Academic, Professional and Civic Lives of Women" (Springer, 2025).
Research Areas
Her academic training and practice lie at the intersection of sociology and design, particularly in the areas of Research through Design and strategic and systemic design. She works from an interdisciplinary perspective, with a focus on the relationship between society, space and innovation. In particular, his theoretical and applied research activities focus on:
- Placemaking and urban regeneration
- Social innovation and quality of life
- Participatory and relational design
