Contract holder for official course on Scenarios of luxury at the Faculty of Arts, Fashion and Tourism.
LINES OF RESEARCH
Critical analysis, design and communication in the Fashion, Design, Media, Entertainment, Publishing, Art, Luxury Industries and in general in the hybrid creative and cultural industries whose economic and financial relevance is the product of the relationship between intangible, expressive, symbolic elements embedded in tangible, material, industrial and technological factors.
Communications consultant, curator, editor and author active in the intersections of fashion, design, communication and economics. He conceived the Documentation and Research Center for the Fiorucci DXing Image, creating, among other things, the contents of the Fashion Section of the XVI Milan Triennale curated by Carlo Bertelli (1979). Co-founder of Casanova -Italian Creativity in Troubled Times- (1982-1985) agency that promoted the Brand Vivienne Westwood. Invited by Marco Rivetti as communication consultant for Pitti Immagine in Florence (1987-2000), he produced various projects, events and experiments, such as "Is Fashion Silly?" (1995-1997), a web-based fashion magazine, and Fashion Engineering Unit (1998-2001), an interdisciplinary curatorial project on the relationship between fashion, industry, mass culture, media, art, and entertainment. In 2001 he participated in the founding of Interaction Design Institute Ivrea as a lecturer in Communication and Knowledge Sharing (2001-2002), and later taught the course "Fashion Metadesign" - Politecnico Milano, Faculty Fashion Design (2002-2005). Several of his researches culminated in exhibitions: Milan Triennale (1979, 2022, 2024); Forum Design in Linz (1980); Venice Biennale (1981); Museum at Fashion Institute of Technology (1992), Pitti Immagine Uomo-Stazione Leopolda (1993-2000) and Art Directors Club of New York (2001). His books have been published in Italy and abroad: Liberi Tutti, Fiorucci 20 years of Moda Spettacolo, Mondadori (1987), Lampi di Stampa (2004); Apparel Arts, Fashion is the News, GFT Group (1987); This was Tomorrow, Pop from Style to Revival, Electa (1990); La Sala Bianca, the birth of Italian Fashion, Electa (1992); The Style Engine: Spectacle, Identity, Design, and Business, Monacelli Press, New York (1998); Volare: The Icon of Italy in Global Pop Culture, Monacelli Press New York (1999); Material Man: Masculinity, Sexuality, Style, Abrams New York (2000); Designing Value, a survey of I.P. in the field of Industrial Design and Fashion, MeesPierson Bank, the Private Bank of Fortis (2005).
Italy editor of i-D magazines (1980-1992) and The Manipulator (1984-2004). His articles have appeared in Abitare; Alfebeta2; Disegno-; Domus; Flair Italia Magazine; GQ Italia; Il Giornale dell'Arte; L'Espresso; Lotus; Modo; Icon; Print; Rassegna; Rolling Stones Italia; Vogue Casa; Vogue Italia. Co-founder and partner of Blumine Srl, winner of a 3М€ grant from the Wearsustain Consortium (2016-2018), funded by the EU Horizon 2020 S.T.ARTS (Science, Technology and the Arts) initiative.
