RESEARCH LINES:

Philosophy of complexity. Philosophy of globalization. Transdisciplinary Pedagogy.
His books have been translated into English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian, and Turkish.
He has been:
Researcher at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, University of Geneva and, in Paris, at the Centre for Transdisciplinary Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, Politics (CETSAP) of the CNRS.
Professor at the University of Palermo, the Polytechnic of Milan, the Bicocca University of Milan (where he has been Head of the Faculty of Educational Sciences), the University of Bergamo (where he has been Head of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters and Director of the Doctoral School in Anthropology and Epistemology of Complexity).
President of SILF – Italian Society for Logic and the Philosophy of Science.
President of the National Commission of the Italian Ministry of Public Education for Indications for the primary school curriculum and first cycle of education.
Member of the Italian Committee for Bioethics of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
Member of the National Observatory for the Integration of Foreign Students and Intercultural Education of the Italian Ministry of Public Education.
Senator of the Legislature XVI of Italy.
He is:
Member of the Scientific Committee of the European Network “Modelling Complexity” (MCX), Paris.
Member of the Board of the Italian Association of Systems Medicine and Healthcare (ASSIMSS), Rome.
Member of the International Scientific Board of UNESCO Chair “Edgar Morin”.
Honorary member of the Italian Group-Analytic Society (SGAI).
