Curriculum Vitae

He founded and has directed since 1986 the Consortium AASTER, a private institute of socio-economic research oriented to territorial development, social cohesion, changes in social composition and employment.

During the 1990s, together with Carlo Borgomeo, he promoted the "Development Missions" within the framework of Law 44 for youth entrepreneurship.

He promoted the "Territorial Pacts for Development" as part of the experience at the CNEL, during the two terms of office entrusted to Giuseppe De Rita presidency (1989-2000)

He has directed dozens of research and territorial animation works in as many Italian territorial contexts, focused on the dimension of local development, of molecular and territorial capitalism, of the relationship between competition and social cohesion.

He has directed research and publications on the transformations of the world of associations representing entrepreneurial interests, work and professions.

He has been a consultant to big players in the economy and networks for competition in the redefinition of the relationship with territories in the context of the interpretative paradigm centred on the dynamics between global flows and the local dimension.

He has directed numerous researches dedicated to the transformations of social composition in urban and extra-urban contexts, with particular reference to the change in the relationship between the city (smart city) and the countryside (smart land).

He was one of the founders of the Symbola Foundation, of which he is currently a member of the scientific committee.

He has directed numerous researches dedicated to purely social issues related to migration processes, forms of coexistence in local communities and metropolitan areas, phenomena of vulnerability and social marginality.

He founded and directed the periodical "Communitas" between 2005 and 2011 in collaboration with the Editorial Vita.

He has designed and curated a number of exhibitions at La Triennale in Milan dedicated to the transformations of living, living and producing in areas affected by modernity, as well as on the urban fragility induced by accelerated processes of modernization.

He has been a publicist since 2006 and has written articles in numerous local and national newspapers, in particular Il Manifesto, Il Corriere della Sera and IlSole24Ore, on which he has held the biweekly column "microcosms" since 2004.

He is responsible for the series "Concrete Communities" for the publishing house Derive Approdi.

He is a contract professor at the IULM course "Society, territory and globalization", as part of the project Athenaeum for the city.
