He graduated in Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano and completed his studies in visual design with Alfred Hohenegger, with Gianni Sassi at the Umanitaria in Milan and at the School of Visual Arts in New York with Michael Perpich.
He began working as a designer for G&R Associati as an assistant to Emilio Fioravanti; in 1984 he opened his own studio in Milan with Guglielmo Ghizzardi and Mario Piazza. He currently manages - with Guglielmo Ghizzardi - A+G Achilli Ghizzardi Associati, a visual design studio based in Milan. He is a consultant for publishing companies, industrial and commercial groups, cultural associations and organisations, public bodies and institutions. He is an expert in brand design, editorial graphics, corporate identity, exhibition design. Together with Guglielmo Ghizzardi, he has designed more than 150 brands for companies and more than forty installations for exhibitions and cultural events.
He has worked, among others, for Prénatal, Kellogg Italia, Shell Italia, DHL International, Roche, Sony Music Entertainment, Utet, Recordati, Ipsoa, Editrice Abitare Segesta, Touring Club Italiano, Gewiss Group, Federico Motta Editore, RCS Mediagroup/Corriere della Sera, Municipality of Milan, Province of Milan, Corepla, CiAl, Forte Hotels, Falck Group, Contrasto, Corriere della Sera Foundation, Forma Centro Internazionale di Fotografia, Moleskine, Pirelli, Pearson, Bompiani, Utet, Salani.
He has received awards and prizes in national and international competitions. He has been a member of juries in visual design competitions. He is a member of ADI (Industrial Design Association) and BEDA.
Educational Activities
He has been teaching since 1990. He has taught at the European Institute of Design, at the Academy of Communication in Milan (of which he was the founder of the courses of graphic design and art direction).
He teaches at the Master in Design for Communication at NABA in Milan and at the Master in Publishing at the University of Milan. For three years, he taught the course of "Theory of Communication"at the Master in Innovation Policy of Cies - University of Calabria.
He has been Visiting Professor at Northern Illinois University (USA) and has given lectures and conferences on graphic design at Politecnico di Milano, Art Institute of Chicago, Graham Foundation and Italian Institute of Culture of Chicago, Lantao Institut of Beijing; he has held workshops and lectures on visual identity in several Italian universities.
He has participated in international conferences and conferences on the themes of training in design in various cities around the world.
For his teaching activity, he has received ten awards from the D&AD/British Designers and Art Directors Club of London.
He has curated two exhibitions on the work of A G Fronzoni, one of the great masters of Italian graphics, in Milan and New York. Together with Massimo Randone, he has created the design competition "ReAl 13" for projects in recycled aluminium dedicated to food nomadism (2005).

E’ autore, con Giorgio Fioravanti, della nuova edizione del “Manuale del Grafico”, per Zanichelli e ha partecipato, con altri, al volume “La comunicazione d’impresa” (a cura di Giampaolo Fabris), per Sperling&Kupfer. Ha scritto saggi e articoli per pubblicazioni sul tema del design e della comunicazione visiva, tra cui un contributo specialistico in “Il Museo visibile”, di Giovanna Vitale per Lupetti. Ha curato il volume di graphic design “Good 50x70 Anthology”, edizioni Moleskine.
Articoli e segnalazioni sul suo lavoro sono apparsi sulle riviste internazionali Graphis, Novum, Lineagrafica e sui volumi Graphis letterhead 1, ADI Index, La grafica in Italia, Grafici italiani e altre pubblicazioni sulla corporate identity.
E’ autore di numerosi articoli sull’influenza del design negli stili di vita per la rivista MFL- Magazine for Living.
