CURRENT POSITION:
Full Professor of Linguistics, in the Faculty of Interpreting, Translation, Linguistic and Cultural Studies, at IULM University, Milan (Italy), where she is currently engaged as Vice Rector for Research and Director of the Department of Humanities.
She is a member of SIG (the Italian Society of Historical Linguistics) and “Sodalizio Glottologico Milanese” (The Milanese society of Historical Linguistics).
She is the scientific coordinator of the project Latin Archaic Inscriptions - Digital Corpus of Archaic Latin Inscriptions and a member of the scientific committee of the Digital Epigraphy and Archeology project of the University of Florida.
RESEARCH LINES:
Her main fields of research include: Sociolinguistics. Her studies focus mainly on classical languages. These are conducted in parallel with examples taken from modern languages, with a focus on the relation between language and society. Special attention is attributed to cases of bilingualism and diglossia and the dynamics related to the communicative situations that determine the choice of expressions in languages. Ethnolinguistics. In this ambit of research, her studies focus mainly on the analysis of linguistic structures within various cultural contexts: the Greek and Latin defixiones of the provinces are investigated with special regard to the study of the formulas related to rituals.
Text linguistics. She has recently been involved in the editing of an unpublished corpus of Greek inscriptions from Sicily.
