Dr. Matteo Pirola

Matteo Pirola received the ADI Compasso d'Oro Award 2026 - XXIX Edition, among the most authoritative international awards in the field of design, together with Silvia Zeni, head of the ATM Historical Archives, for the project "ATM Manifesto. Stories, Travel and Design."

The work, awarded in the "Theoretical, Historical and Critical Research" category, proposes a historical-critical research dedicated to the history of ATM - Azienda Trasporti Milanesi, enhancing its cultural heritage through the analysis of the Historical Archive.

In the motivations for the award, the jury emphasized how the project demonstrates the role of design in enhancing a cultural asset of collective interest, helping to strengthen the link between the public service and the community.

The international jury consisted of Giovanna Carnevali, Lorenza Baroncelli, Giovanni Brugnoli, Luciano Galimberti e Jasper Morrison.
