He is a member of the Assonime Board of Directors and is also President of the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala in Milan.

The motivation for the degree awarded by IULM University reads: "The degree is awarded to Fedele Confalonieri, forerunner of modern business communication, example and model for the younger generations. Confalonieri has always conceived the activity of communication and mediation between institutions as two integrated and necessary aspects of the same communication process. His skills as a manager, as a communicator and his human qualities of balance have been confirmed in his work as President of Mediaset, where he managed the delicate moment of his entry into the Stock Exchange. Once again, on that occasion, Fedele Confalonieri showed not only managerial skills but also a great objectivity of judgement, creating an editorial polyphony of expressive forms. He took on the role of mediator and guarantor of the freedom of different opinions and needs, communicating, both internally and externally, the values of the society he presided over. For these reasons, the Honorary Degree in Public Relations is awarded to Fedele Confalonieri".
