University education
In 1989, he completed his university studies at the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the University of Rome "La Sapienza", where he graduated in Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures, with a 110/110 cum laude mark, with a thesis in English literature on modernist perspectives in the lyrics of Thomas Hardy (Tutor: Prof. Carole Beebe Tarantelli)
In 1991, he obtained his Postgraduate Diploma in "Theory and Practice of Literary Translation" at the Department of Anglistics of the University of Rome "La Sapienza", under the direction of Prof. Agostino Lombardo, with a dissertation focused on the translation of stories by contemporary Irish writer John McGahern, unpublished until then in Italian.
Academic career
In January 2005, with the unanimous vote of the Commission, he was admitted to the competition of Full Professor of Comparative Literature (L-FIL-LET/14) at the University of Verona, Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures.
The Faculty of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures of the IULM University of Milan unanimously called him to the Chair of Comparative Literatures and he took up his post, following his appointment as Rector on 22.02.2005, on 1 March 2005.

Member of the Academic Senate and Board of Directors of IULM University since 2006.
Dean of the Faculty of Interpreting, Translation and Linguistic and Cultural Studies since November 2009.
Director of the Institute of Comparative Arts, Cultures and Literatures from November 2005 to October 2009.
President of the Academic Sector of Interpreting, Communication and Cultural Studies from March 2006 to October 2009.
He is a member of SICL - Società Italiana di Comparatistica Letteraria - and of the University Council for Comparative Literature since its establishment. Since January 2012 he has been a member of the Council of the Council.
Didactic activity and foreign languages known
Professor of Comparative Literature at the Faculty of Interpreting, Translation and Linguistic and Cultural Studies at the IULM University of Milan.
Teaching activity:
- Bachelor's degree in Interpreting and Communication, chair of Comparative Literature, where he teaches courses in the thematic field, on literary genres, always focused on literature in translation;
- Master's Degree in Specialist Translation and Conference Interpreting, Conference Interpreting Curriculum, Chair of Comparative Literature, where he teaches analytical courses on the text in translation (text hybridism of the translated text).

Since 2006, he has been Director of the UNESCO-IULM Chair on Cultural and Comparative Studies on Imaginary. As part of the scientific activities developed by the UNESCO-IULM Chair on the Imaginary has promoted:
