Periodicals of the 20th and 21st centuries in the avant-garde and post-modern

The volume aims to provide a contribution to research in the domain of periodical studies. A recently defined field, the historical-theoretical study of periodical publications involves a methodology in which multidisciplinary skills converge: from the strictly understood sectorial contents (literature, linguistics, philosophy, law, science) to the librarianship and archival investigation; from the many "stories of" (above all the history of journalism) to the studies of media structure. The field thus identified allows many issues to be reviewed in an innovative way. In literature, this allows a revision of national canons and, at the same time, a re-reading of received categories such as avant-garde, modernism, post-modernism. In language studies, the possibility of working on little explored or completely unexplored corpora offers valuable data, available for new analysis. From a typological point of view, this perspective allows us to overcome many hurdles that, in the past, were considered fundamental, such as the one that opposes the "small" magazines - the magazines of young people - to the institutional ones.
