Preliminary Evaluation of Prior Learning and Studies

What is it?

Preliminary evaluation of prior learning and studies is a request by which the candidate requests a preliminary evaluation of their academic records from the IULM Registrar’s Office, i.e., before enrolling in a Bachelor's or Master's degree programme offered by our University. This evaluation is intended to identify in advance the possible credit recognition of exams acquired from a previous study path.

Requests submitted will be considered provided they are consistent with the new study path and generally correspond to restricted learning activities.

You must submit the form to [email protected] and simultaneously pay the due fee of €80.00 through SCRIGNO Pago Facile at the following link (Log in as "Anonymous User" > indicate "voluntary payment" > select "IULM University" as the Institution, "Student Payments" as the reason for payment, amount €80, reason for payment: student's NAME-SURNAME-career evaluation).

If you enrol in the academic year in which you submit your application, or the immediately following year, the due fee of €80.00 will be deducted from the second instalment of university fees and tuition.

Once the form and payment are received (which will be automatically processed by IULM, without the need to send a receipt), the Registrar’s Office will email you a career evaluation (usually within 20 working days of receiving payment).

The grade obtained is valid only for the academic year in which the application is submitted or the immediately following one.

Any credit recognitions will be ratified by a resolution of the relevant Faculty Council following enrolment.

Please note that exams from previous studies taken at institutions of higher education in art, music, and dance (AFAM) will not be recognised; the exception is the Degree Program in Arts and Cultural Events, for which specific elective exams may be considered and validated prior to the authorisation of the Faculty Dean.

The admission year is determined based on the number of credits recognisable from the previous study programme. If at least 36 credits are recognised in educational activities, of which at least half are from first-year exams, admission to the second year as an incoming transfer may be considered.

Admission to a degree programme (undergraduate or graduate) taught in English is possible only if students possess a suitable B2 level language certification, are native speakers, or have passed the appropriate assessment test. Recognition of any training activities is possible only if the exams were passed in English.
