Curator and contemporary art critic, professor of Art History, Gianni Romano collaborated with numerous magazines such as Arts Magazine (New York), Flash Art (Milan), Art Press (Paris), Noema (Salzburg), Untitled (London), Lapiz (Madrid), ArtNet (New York) and published numerous essays such as "Collecting Images" (Fondazione Italiana per la Fotografia,Torino 1997), "Artscape: panorama of art on the Net" (Costa and Nolan, Genoa 1999) and "Contemporanee" (Costa and Nolan, Genoa 2000: Postmedia Books, Milan 2002), Become a curator (Postmedia Books, Milan 2019). As curator he has organized about fifty art exhibitions including the 51st edition of the Michetti Prize (Museo Michetti, Francavilla al Mare, 2000), Marlene Dumas' solo show at the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa (Venice 2003), "Intervista con la pittura" at the Fond. Bevilacqua La Masa (Venice 2003), "Media Connection" (Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome and Triennale di Milano, 2001) and "BienNolo" (Milan 2019). In 2004, moreover, co-curated (with Elena Molinaro) the largest retrospective of Ron Arad in Italy as a collateral exhibition at the Venice Architecture Biennale: "Ron Arad: Made in Italy", 14-26 September 2004, Mulino 503/Dainese, Vicenza.
In 2002 he founded the publishing house Postmedia Books, dedicated to essays on visual culture and in particular on art, architecture and design. In 2014 he was awarded the certificate of Excellence for entrepreneurship and university culture (theoretical, historical and critical research and publishing projects) by the Lombardy Region. In January 2016 he founded the non-profit cultural association ArtCityLab (with Lino Apone and Rossana Ciocca) and in 2019 he opened the urban laboratory Sartoria editoriale (Milan) which presents to the public private actors and public institutions interested in the production of alternative formats to traditional cultural practices and policies.
