Graduates' path
Everything you need to start your career with an internship experience. From online resume compilation to the latest company offers, a guide to choosing the right internship for you.
The Career Service and Business Relations Office provides IULM graduates with a platform, created with Almalaurea, for the promotion of extracurricular traineeships that represent the first gateway to the world of work.
The extracurricular internships are periods of internship carried out by graduates. This type of internship cannot last less than 2 months and more than 12 months and can be activated within 12 months from the date of graduation. It provides for the obligation on the part of the Host Organisation to provide a reimbursement of expenses as per the reference regulations; finally, it is necessary to respect the obligation on the part of the Host Organisation to communicate the start/period/interruption of the internship by means of compulsory COB communication.
The services offered to graduates through the platform are numerous:
- Consultation of the internship offers published online;
- Possibility of registration on the new platform and online compilation/updating of the curriculum vitae
- Self-application to internship offers submitted by companies;
To view the internship offers you can click on "Search for the job/stage offer" in the control panel and then click on "Jobs and internships" (IULM logo), while to access the platform you must click on "Access to internship and placement services through the online services page"
The stages
Once the online procedure for the activation of extracurricular internships has been completed, the Company/Entity will send three copies of the training project stamped and signed by the Legal Representative or his delegate to the Internship Office of the University. The Career Service Office will send the documentation to the signature of the legal representative and then the graduate will be called by the staff of the Office to collect the documents to be brought to the company. The documentation will be collected during the opening hours of the Career Service Office, illustrated in the right column, in the Contacts section.
Duration and reimbursement of expenses
The internship may have a maximum duration of 12 months, subject to a single activation at the same company. The compulsory indemnity is at least € 500.00 gross monthly (reduced to € 400.00 if a ticket/canteen is provided or if a part-time commitment of 4 hours per day is required). For Public Administrations, at least a lump-sum payment of € 300.00 per month applies. The graduate, in order to carry out the internship, must be enrolled in the employment centers by filling out online the DID (Declaration of Immediate Availability to Work). The extracurricular internships outside the Lombardy Region are activated in partnership with an external body. Internship allowances vary from region to region according to current legislation.
Final evaluations At the end of the internship, the company tutor and the trainee will receive an e-mail inviting them to complete their final evaluations.
In
the event that there is a need to prematurely interrupt, extend or temporarily suspend the internship, the Institution/Company must enter the request, accessing the detailed page of the training project in the platform of Almalaurea. Requests for extension and suspension must be submitted at least one week before the deadline.
Internships at newspapers, radio and television magazines
Graduates of the three-year and master courses will not be able to carry out internships related to editorial activities at newspapers, radio and television magazines. The above is imposed by the agreement signed with the National Council of the Order of Journalists, which has allowed the School of Journalism of the IULM University to be accredited as a suitable place to carry out the internship and the State exam for registration in the Register of Professional Journalists. The restriction does not apply to students of the Master in Journalism.
