This professionalizing course is one of the modules of the Master in Game Design
Scientific director: Prof. Gianni Canova
Educational coordinator: Prof. Matteo Bittanti
Lecturer: Auriea Harvey and Michaël Samyn
GAME ART gives students all the resources they need to create the visual style of their video games, from graphics to animations, from interface design to overall look-and-feel. After a brief review of the history of computer graphics, the course offers intensive tutorials for the use of 3D CAD software for modeling, rigging and animation and 2D software for texturing and user interface creation, photogrammetry, 3D scanning and motion capture; and the use of 2D software for imaging, digital painting, texturing, typography and user interface work. The software used, Blender and GIMP, are the most widely used for scripting: students will learn to use these tools also on a programmatic/procedural level and will be able to develop a visual style and atmosphere beyond photorealism.
