Lesson programme

Photography is the privileged medium through which the gaze of contemporary man has been formed. But what are its main features? What makes it different from other forms of expression? In answering these questions, photography will be considered as one of the privileged aesthetic forms able to shift our perception and provide an unprecedented knowledge of the world.

So photography, as Baudelaire shows, is the “modern” way to reflect on the status of the image. The lecture will explore a path between aesthetics and photography, through a theoretical presentation supported by photographic images, with the contribution of well-established international scholars.
